It's been a violent year.  Shootings in the schools.  Shootings in the office.  Shootings in the home.  Wars and fights all over the world.  And that's just the stuff that made the news.

You'd think grown folks would know better.  And yet, we not only do these things, but we curse our children with the words we use to describe and communicate with them, even while we try to justify our own brutality towards each other.  It's like we don't realize they're watching.  And we wonder why we don't respect us.

This article appeared in the early days of The Alabaster Box.  In light of recent events, and to perhaps help some of our youth start their school year off on an X-cellent note, we decided to reprise it.  Enjoy, and be encouraged!
